Annual Bolinas Weekend Retreat

The San Francisco Meditation Group holds an annual weekend retreat the weekend before Thanksgiving at the beautiful Commonweal Retreat Center in Bolinas, Marin County. This site, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is situated amidst some of nature’s most beautiful and peaceful scenery, making it particularly conducive to a spiritual retreat. Silence is observed throughout and the two day, one night retreat is structured with periods of silent meditation, devotional chanting and inspirational readings and recordings. Accommodations are available for those who wish to stay overnight.

The 2018 retreats are upcoming.

Programs vary but include:

  • Morning and evening meditations with monastic disciples of Self-Realization Fellowship
  • Evening classes and inspirational programs
  • Opportunities for personal counseling in one’s practice of Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings
  • Free time to relax, meditate, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the retreat grounds

While it is not necessary to be a member of Self-Realization Fellowship to participate in the retreat program, it is important that guests be familiar with meditation and be comfortable spending their time at the retreat in silence. For those new to the SRF teachings or to meditation, a stay of two or three days is usually suggested for a first retreat. There is also a retreat solely for men who are students of Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons at the Hidden Valley Ashram. Complete information and a schedule of conducted How-to-Live Retreat programs are available on the SRF Website.
