The San Francisco Meditation Group is composed of members and friends of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), a worldwide nonprofit religious organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920. The aim of Self-Realization Fellowship is direct communion with God in meditation through the practice of Kriya Yoga, an ancient and sacred scientific technique of Meditation.
Our Chapel serves sincere seekers in the Bay Area, welcoming all to a sanctuary of Peace with which to help balance meditation and activity in their daily lives; to share and practice the teachings of Paramahansaji, provide spiritual support to one another through group meditation, and perform uplifting spiritual service to the world. Please see our schedule of weekly devotional and meditation services open to the public, and know that you are free to come and return as often as you wish.
If you are new to SRF, we suggest Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi. Copies of this spiritual classic are available at our chapel, in bookstores, public libraries, and online at the SRF Bookstore. For preliminary instructions on how to meditate please visit the Self-Realization Fellowship main website.
